As a boiler nears the end of it’s service life (approximately 10-15 years) they often start to wear out and components fail. Sometimes they are simple to fix, sometimes it is a futile effort to chase down and soon becomes uneconomical to repair so ends up being more affordable in the long run to simply have a new boiler fitted.#
Just make sure your installer understands the difference between a cheap boiler and a good boiler…modulation ratios are very important for efficiency and affordable running costs…an over size boiler that doesn’t modulate will cost you a lot more money than a smaller one that does.
This old boiler however, was saved with a good deep clearing of the domestic hot water heat exchanger: it lives to serve another day.
