When it comes to gas boilers, there really is only one to fit. The Viessmann Vitodens 200 range.
Yes it is more expensive to purchase, however, the running costs over the life of the boiler will be lower. Pay more up front to have a longer lasting, more reliable and cheaper to run boiler, with seven years warranty as standard and upgradable to 12 if you desire.
The Vitodens 200 is superior to other boilers in almost every way that matters.
- It modulates lower than anything else out there (read here to understand how essential to cheaper running costs this is). I asked every manufacturer at the installer show what their boilers modulated down to, only one brand even new what it meant let alone it’s vital importance and claimed 6kw as “great”…it is awful and akin to claiming 20mpg from a family car is “great”
- It has lambda controlled combustion (cars have had this for over 20 years yet most boiler manufactures seem not to care or understand it’s importance).
- Built in wifi for mobile phone controlled and remote monitoring from your heating engineer. No extra boxes needed as with other brands.
- Touch screen colour control display. So simple to use and should be standard kit on all boilers in 2023!
- The combination version of the masterpiece offers the highest litres per minute flow rate for hot water by a long margin.
- Advanced weather compensation. This is a very important aspect to allowing the boiler to last for many years and cost you less to run. Standard weather compensation is very good and a massive leap forward from room stats of yesteryear, however, the advanced weather compensation we have with the Vitodens boiler is another step forward in control and refinement.
When we were asked to decommission an old twin flue powermax thermal store boiler in Woking, Surrey and replace it with something smaller and more efficient there really is only one choice if you want great hot water performance, efficient heating with advanced weather compensation and your cupboard space back…The Viessmann Vitodens 200w 32kw combi boiler.
Some boiler replacements are carried out in a single day, which can be done in some cases. Are they installed correctly though? It’s a long shot.
A central heating system should be flushed out so the dirt and debris from the old system (and the new installation works such as flux and solder) does not contaminate the new. This part of the installation is often left out by other companies, to save time and money. You’ll see from the IcyHot Instagram videos just how dirty systems get…why would you want that going inside your brand new boiler? Besides which, it is mandatory to maintain warranty to flush the system.
We don’t like to rush installations, we take our time, make sure the new boilers are installed correctly, on a prepared central heating system and with cared for pipework.
